Senator Charles Schumer
Over the past three decades in public service, U.S. Senator Charles “Chuck” Ellis Schumer has built a reputation as a leader in finding common-sense solutions to national issues and as a tireless fighter for New York.
Chuck was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 23, 1950 to parents Selma, a homemaker active in the community, and Abe, who owned a small exterminating business. Chuck grew up the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood and with his siblings, Fran and Robert, attended PS 197 and Madison High School. Chuck has two daughters, Jessica and Alison, and he still resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Iris Weinshall.

Joan Young, Curator, Guggenheim Museum
Joan Young joined the curatorial staff of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, in 1995. In her capacity as Associate Curator of Contemporary Art and Manager of Curatorial Affairs, Young manages both loan- and collection-based exhibitions for the museum’s international network of sites, contributes to publications, and works with acquisition committees to develop the museum’s collection of contemporary art.
Among the projects Young has curated for the Guggenheim Museum are the exhibitions of Hugo Boss Prize winners Rirkrit Tiravanija (2005), Tacita Dean (2007), and Emily Jacir (2009) as well as Phoebe Washburn: Regulated Fool’s Milk Meadow (2007) and Julie Mehertu: Grey Area (2009-10) for Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin...
Lauren Cornell, Executive Director, Rhizome; Adjunct Curator, the New Museum
Cornell oversees and develops Rhizome's programs, all of which serve to promote and contextualize art engaged with technology. Previously, Cornell worked as a curator and writer in London and New York. She worked in the Andy Warhol Film Project at the Whitney Museum and, from 2002-2004, she served as Executive Director of Ocularis, an organization dedicated to avant-garde cinema, video and new media. Cornell is also Adjunct Curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, where she collaborates to produce exhibitions and the monthly New Silent Series.
